Tasers

Though newspaper headlines claimed that the taser was "factored out" of Nick's death, there are actually other insitutions -- aside from Taser International and police-funded organizations -- that state that tasers cannot be ruled out as less-than-lethal force in certain cases. Nick just so happens to fit just such a "case."

Deadly Force?

Tasers, also known as Conducted Energy Devices (CEDs) and Stun-Guns, are a source of controversy among many different organizations.

Training Guidelines

Athough there is no national policy guideline manual (or anything similar) that is specific on the appropriate use of tasers at present - there are only organizations that have suggestive manuals, such as Amnesty International - there is one in the making:

Police departments currently only consider these resources in their training and individual policy guideline procedures. Each department can choose what type of policy it wants to implement regarding the use of tasers.
